President's Message

Hello, everyone. I hope this season finds everyone well. We have several new members to welcome this year. We also have an exciting spring coming up. We have a workshop on April 16th that I hope you all will find convenient. It should be exciting. In addition to being expanded to two teachers this year, it promises to be even more enlightening. Also, please remember we have our spring recital in June. The more surprises we have at that, the better we all enjoy it. Finally, before long we'll be cooking for the picnic. Time goes much too quickly. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Darleen Koreman

Spring Recital

This year the Recital will be on Wednesday May 18th at 7:30 P.M. in the Pruyn House. Take note that we have changed the date to a Wednesday in May. In prior years, both the Fall and the Spring Recitals were on Thursday, the traditional Church Choir rehearsal day. Many people had conflicts and could not participate in either the Fall or the Spring Recital.
If you plan on performing this year please contact Darleen Koreman stating your intent. Reaffirm with her your plans at least a few days before the recital so that she can assemble the program in an interesting and pleasing order.

Picnic

The picnic is again scheduled at 6:00 P.M. at the Pruyn House. We have Joe Loux leading us after the meal with a program titled "Thoughts of Love". Please contact Darleen Koreman so the food items can be balanced and coordinated.

The date is June 19th. Mark your calendar for a great evening of food and music.

Membership

Membership has increased by more than 20% to 31 members this year. A warm welcome to Amy Callinan, Will Crowther, Sandy Lawrence, Fredda Peritz, and Carol Turner.

Library

Our extensive music library is fully functional and available for your perusal. The current rules of library use are as follows:
1 - Only members of the Chapter may check out music and other materials.
2 - Music must be signed out on the sign-out form.
3 - Duration of loan is 2-3 months.
4 - Music should be returned to Lee Danielson at any meeting.
The Library will be available on the first meeting of the month at 7:15 P.M. All questions should be directed to Lee Danielson

Scholarship

Each year scholarship money is available through our local Chapter for workshops and other educational opportunities. A brief written request is all that is necessary to be considered.
Please include the event and the amount you are requesting. Send application letter to Sue Wright, Jutta VonSchwerin or Emmy Grubb.
The Adirondack Baroque Consort funds this scholarship.

New Location

In a recent conversation with Debbie Segel, she told me that her business has moved and expanded. Just recently the Violin Shop moved to 44 Third Street in Troy, NY and now includes a gift gallery, original artwork and recorder music and instruments. She urges everyone to stop in to say "hello" or visit her websites: www.violinsdirect.com or www.deborahsegel.com.

Amherst Workshop

The long weekend including Memorial Day, May 27-30, 2005, Amherst Early Music will hold a three-day workshop at Dominican College located in Orangeburg, NY; a short easy drive to an excellent workshop.
