Spring has Sprung Workshop

We are entering the season that is the most anticipated season of all. The beauty and growth of new life. Budding flowers, light spring rains, and starting new projects. This is the time year that we should also face new challenges. On April 29th we are lucky enough to again be graced with the talents of Tricia Van Oers. For the past two years, Tricia has taught us new techniques and pushed us to try new types of music. Tricia is the type of teacher who makes you feel that you can handle any challenge. She is kind and friendly and certainly a joy to work with. For more information call Darleen Koreman at (518)482-6023.

Also, we will be having Joe and Marjorie Loux from the Recorder Shop in Hannacroix, NY at the workshop so plan on looking into new music or even the bigger challenge of a new recorder. Now that is something to accomplish! Learn a new recorder and fingering over the summer and really feel like you’ve accomplished something great!

Next Meeting: May 3, 2006

Your schedule says our next meeting will be directed by Ole Christiansen but Ole will be unable to join us that night. So we have decided to have a “Bring Your Own Music” night. If you have a favorite piece to share or a piece that your curious what it would sound like by a group, feel free to bring it that night.

Spring Recital

The first meeting in June will be our spring recital. I hope everyone is planning a piece or two or three for our entertainment. Please feel free to invite friends that night to hear your beautiful performances. We will have refreshments after the recital so please plan on bringing a treat to share. If you would like to bring drinks please let us know ahead of time so we can plan on how much we need.

Picnic

We also will have the end of the year picnic this year as usual. It is a potluck picnic. Everyone brings their favorite dishes to share with others. You may contact Darleen Koreman at 482-6023 and let her know what dish you might be bringing (especially entrees!!!). For all you non-cookers out there, we will need paper products and drinks so just give me a call if you prefer to take care of something like that. Also, please let me know how many people will be coming so we can plan on the amount of food and table and chairs. Early planning will help us have another lovely end of the year picnic. Joe Loux will be directing that night after our picnic.

Web Site

Don’t forget to check out our new web site at http://www.hudsonmohawkrecorder.org, and sign up for our Yahoo group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hudsonmohawkrecorder. This has come about through the efforts of Sandy Lawrence and John Wilson. We’re coming into the twenty-first century kids!!!!

Library

I also want to remind everyone to take advantage of our newly organized library kept at the Pruyn House. Lee Danielson has done a remarkable job organizing and logging our massive collection of sheet music. There is a sign-out list so please be to record anything you may like to borrow.

President's Message

I hope everyone had a lovely Easter or Passover. We certainly could not have asked for better weather.

We have had a wonderful session this year. We have made some progressive steps as an organization and we are growing in leaps and bounds!! I want to thank everyone who has contributed to the success of our chapter. From the caliber of our members, I can see a greater accomplishments for our group as we head into the future. Please feel free to continue invite friends and relatives who may be interested in joining our wonderfully musical organization.

In friendship,

Darleen Koreman
