Editors Note

As a result of discussions last spring, we have inaugurated a new program for the Summer months. Members of the Chapter have been meeting on the twice monthly routine during July , August, and early September. They have been meeting at members' homes, and have been using music the people bring. As a summer theme we had a Bach Prelude and Fugue that we played at each session. At the last session we were considerably better than when we began. The whole idea was a great success, and I am sure we will want to repeat it again next summer.

Web Site

www.hudsonmohawkrecorder.org is our Web site and from it you can join a discussion group and receive your newsletters on line, thus saving us a bit of money. Sandy Lawrence is the person to talk to about any problems or concerns in taking advantage of this new technology.

Scholarship

We again remind you of the availability of scholarship money provided by the Adirondack Baroque Consort Scholarship Fund. Active members of the Chapter are encouraged to apply. Weeklong, weekend, or one-day workshops of early music or recorder playing are eligible. For Scholarship information, contact Jutta Von Schwerin or Sue Wright

Dues

Please fill out the form and mail with your dues to Emmy Grubb. Her address is on the form. You may bring the slip with your dues to the first meeting. Local dues remain $15, plus $40 for National ARS membership if you want to be a National member. Also, we welcome additional contributions to help cover local expenses. One membership covers all members of the family. Benefits of national membership include: Notices of Workshops, occasional free music, and a magazine (5 issues) containing music reviews, historical articles, and columns on instruction, performance, and technique.

Music Library

Our extensive music library is fully functional and available for your perusal. The current rules of library use are as follows:
  1. Only members of the Chapter may check out music and other materials.
  2. Music must be signed out on the sign-out form. Duration of loan is 2-3 months.
  3. Music should be returned to Lee Danielson at any meeting.
All questions should be directed to Lee Danielson.

Consorts and Concerts

There are a number of Consorts that are active and have members from our Chapter. Sweetbrier II, The Bleekler Consort, The Adirondack Baroque Consort, and Corelli Clash have been active for years. A new one, The Crow Hill Consort has been organized and includes Sandy Lawrence, Will Crowther, Carol Turner and Marie-Luisa Carreno. The Platt Hollow Trio have also played during some of our programs. The Byrd In The Bush has also been playing for many years.

Workshop

The Workshop last Spring was a great success as everyone in attendance enjoyed the excellent coaching by Trica Van Ores. We should discuss having another one this year at our first meeting . Organization takes time and coaches have to be retained early in the year.
